Edwin George Klammer
Following a brief illness while at the Waconia Hospital, Edwin George Klammer, of Howard Lake, was called to his eternal rest Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at the age of 90 years, nine months, and 20 days.
Edwin was born Dec. 13, 1911, at the home of his parents, George and Mary (nee Kuhlmann) Klammer, in Victor Township.
A life-long member of St. James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake, he was baptized Jan. 14, 1912, by the Rev. A. L. Oetjen and confirmed in his faith May 30, 1926, by the Rev. C. G. Seltz.
He was united in marriage to Elsie Luedke April 16, 1946, at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, St. Paul. This union was blessed with the births of two children.
They made their home and living on a farm south of Howard Lake. Building projects and cutting lumber were some of his favorite tasks on the farm.
Edwin enjoyed nature, hunting, fishing, and gardening. He looked forward to parades and being with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He served on the board for Corey School.
As a member of St. James Church, he helped with canvassing for pledge drives and listened every week to the Lutheran Hour.
Edwin was preceded in death by his parents George and Mary Klammer; three brothers: Erwin Klammer, Elmer Klammer, and Alfred Klammer; two sisters: Clara Luhman and Eleanor Wandersee; and two brothers-in-law: Alfred Luhman and Reuben Wandersee.
He is survived by his wife Elsie; son Dennis Klammer; daughter Jerrilyn (Duane) Erickson; three grandsons: David Erickson (fiancée Melissa Belke), Bryan (Megan) Erickson, and Corey Erickson; two great-grandsons: Dylan Erickson and Riley Erickson; great-granddaughter Zoe Rose Erickson;
brother Reuben (Doris) Klammer; three sisters-in-law: Milla Klammer, Margaret Klammer, and Irene Klammer; nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at St. James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake, with the Rev. Michael Nirva and the Rev. Martin Schoenfeld officiating.
The organist was Nancy Butterfass, with special music by soloist Marge Stueven.
Interment was at the Howard Lake Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Erickson, Bryan Erickson, Corey Erickson, Arvid Luhman, Kenneth Klammer, and Stanley Wandersee.
Honorary pallbearers were Hubert Luhman, LeRoy Luedke, Harland Diers, Donald Dangers, Roland Narr, and Marvin Luedke.
Arrangements were made by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Howard Lake.
