Richard Martin Knoll
Richard Martin Knoll of Cokato was called to his eternal
rest Tuesday, April 23, 2002, at North Memorial Hospital, Robbinsdale, at
the age of 66 years, four months, and 19 days.
Richard was born Dec. 4, 1935, in Silver Lake, the son
of Martin and Ella (nee Rivers) Knoll. He was baptized Dec. 6, 1935, by
the Rev. Julhowski at the Roman Catholic Church in Silver Lake.
He was confirmed in the Lutheran church Jan. 15, 1958,
by the Rev. Schroeder at St. John’s Church, Winsted.
Richard was united in marriage to Joyce Schumann Dec. 29,
1956, at St. John’s, Winsted, by the Rev. Schroeder. This union was blessed
with the births of three children.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Spending time with his
children and grandchildren was always important to him.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and
Ella Knoll; stepfather, Oscar Webb; two brothers, Clements Knoll and Damis
Knoll; and one sister-in-law, Della Knoll.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Cokato; three daughters,
Barbara and Duane Berglund of Brownton, Jeanette Benson and friend Tom Herzog
of Brownton, Alice and Dennis Lieder of New Ulm;
Eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother,
Leroy and Marian Knoll; two sisters, Rose Wanous of Cokato and Bernice and
Elmer Retzloff of Cosmos; one half-sister, Carole and Larry Walz of Brownton;
brothers-in-law Hilton Oltman and James Wanous; cousins; nieces; nephews;
and a host of relatives of friends.
Pallbearers were Paul Davis, Rodney Bjork, Melvin Terning,
David Knoll, Robert Wanous, Terry Knoll, Jeff Vorbeck, Bradley Oltman, and
Mike Knoll.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 27, 2002, 2 p.m.,
at St. James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake with the Rev. Michael Nirva and
the Rev. Martin Schoenfeld officiating. The organist was Nancy Butterfass.
Interment was at the St. James Cemetery.
Arrangements were made by Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home
Inc., Cokato and Howard Lake.
