Viola E. Kopecky
Viola E. Kopecky, age 84, of Mayer, passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, at Elim Home in Watertown.
Viola was born June 4, 1917 to Fred T. and Caroline (Gohlke) Hoernemann at Camden Township, Carver County.
She was baptized June 17, 1917 at Frieden's County Line Church, Norwood, by the Rev. Zwintscher, and confirmed March 29, 1931 at St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church, Hamburg, by the Rev. Vriesen.
Viola was united in marriage to Frank A. Kopecky June 9, 1935 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Carver, by the Rev. Victor Ostermann.
She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, gardening, and canning for her grandchildren. She was employed at Tonka Toys for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; parents, Fred and Caroline Hoernemann; sisters, Caroline Hoernemann, Helen Koepp, Della Syverson, Margaret Buell, and Louise Ziermann.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Harold Latzig of Lester Prairie; sons and daughters-in-law, Alvin and Sandy Kopecky of Lino Lakes, Harold Kopecky and friend Ann of Minneapolis, Donald and Rose Kopecky of McGregor.
She is further survived by 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Frederick and Edna Hoernemann of Waconia; sister, Evelyn Zierman of California; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lester and Lucille Kopecky of St. Paul, Helen Heydra of Shakopee, Eleanor Kopecky of Chaska; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A chapel service was Sunday, March 3, 7:30 p.m., at the Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia. Visitation was Sunday, March 3, and will also be one hour prior to the service.
Funeral services are today, March 4, 2002, 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Mayer. The Rev. Peter Meier and the Rev. Jeff Harter will officiate at the service.
Interment will be at the Bohemian National Cemetery, Silver Lake.
Grandchildren Margaret Buck, Linus Latzig, Gary Latzig, Lyle Latzig, Brad Kopecky, Randy Kopecky, Shelley Jelinek, and Johnny Kopecky will serve as casketbearers.
Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia, served the family.
