Elaine Marie Luhman
Elaine Marie Luhman, age 51, of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at her home.
Elaine was born Dec. 13, 1950, in Buffalo, the daughter of Edward and Ursula "Sue" (Antil) Perra. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School and graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School.
She continued her education at Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, receiving a bachelor's degree.
During her life, Elaine lived in Wisconsin, northern Minnesota, Tekamah, Neb., and Shenandoah, Iowa, before moving to Sergeant Bluff in 1988.
She married David Luhman Sept. 20, 1974, in Howard Lake. She worked at MCI in the late 1980s and early l990s. She also was a human resource specialist for Terra at its corporate office.
Elaine was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church. She loved the outdoors, was an avid walker and reader, and enjoyed Bible study. She also was a member of the book club.
Her goal in life was to see her three children graduate from college, which was fulfilled last May.
Elaine loved horses and enjoyed visiting her brother's horse farm. She also enjoyed going to Branson with her two sisters.
She was known for her positive attitude, and was interested in the lives of others. She liked to say to people, "Just give me your time."
Survivors include her parents; her husband; two sons, Joseph Luhman of Denver, Colo., and Mark Luhman of Cedar Falls, Iowa; a daughter, Sarah Luhman of Maple Grove;
three brothers, Thomas and his wife, Paula Perra of Anchorage Ala., Jerome Perra of Waverly, and Frank and his wife, Soila Perra of Waverly; and two sisters, LuAnn and her husband, Thomas Parnell of Blaine, and Mary Wohlenhaus of Buffalo.
Visitation took place at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, and at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Howard Lake.
Services were Tuesday, Aug. 6, 11 a.m., at Morningside Lutheran Church. Burial was Wednesday, Aug. 7 in St. James Lutheran Dutch Lake Cemetery in Howard Lake.
