Henrietta Anna Luhman
Henrietta Anna Luhman, age 89, of Howard Lake, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002, at Good Samaritan Care Center in Howard Lake.
Henrietta was born Aug. 30, 1913, in Howard Lake, the daughter of Henry and Minnie (nee Birkholz) Luhman, together with a twin brother, Edwin Henry Luhman.
She was baptized Aug. 30, 1913, by the Rev. A.L. Oetjen and confirmed in her faith April 10, 1927, at St. James Lutheran Church by the Rev. C.G. Seltz.
Henrietta worked as a clerk in the Howard Lake Drug Store and also in Custer's Super Valu. She also worked as a domestic cook in the Wayzata area for a number of families, among whom were the H.W. Nortons, Kenneth Owens, Mrs. John Pillsbury, Sr., L.E. Carpenters, and Mrs. John Snyder, Sr. Upon retiring, she lived in her own home and enjoyed planting vegetables and flowers.
In 1995, she moved to Kensington in Buffalo for several years, and in 1999, she came to the Howard Lake Good Samaritan Home, where she was called to her eternal rest at the age of 89 years and 12 days.
Henrietta was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Minnie Luhman, her twin brother Edwin, brothers Eldon and Walter, sister Florence, sisters-in-law Leah and Lavon, brother-in-law Henry W. Berg, and nephew Joel Luhman.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Lenore Luhman; nieces and nephews, John (Carol) Berg, James Berg, Karen (Thomas) Bensen, Richard (Elizabeth) Luhman, Robert (Doris) Luhman, Keith (Lorraine) Luhman, Gretchen Evanson, Lucinda (Con) Rigas;
great-nieces and nephews, Daniel Berg, Marna (Robert) Kumpula, John L. (Annette) Berg, Alan (Teresa) Berg, David (Tami) Berg, Tim Bensen, Kari Asleson, Steven Luhman, Timothy (Cherish) Luhman, Phillip (Kristin) Luhman, Mark (Barbie) Luhman, Jennifer (Daniel) Christopherson, Nicolet (John) Berkey, Matthew Luhman, Eric Evanson, Daniel Evanson, Joel Evanson, Heidi Evanson, Johanna Rigas, Karl Rigas, Peter Luhman, Eva Luhman; and host of cousins, relatives, and friends.
Visitation was Sunday, Sept. 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Howard Lake, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Funeral services were Monday, Sept. 16, 2 p.m., at St. James Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Michael Nirva and the Rev. Martin Schoenfeld officiating.
Nancy Butterfass was organist for the service, and special music was provided by the St. James Ladies Choir.
Dick Luhman, Bob Luhman, Keith Luhman, James Berg, John Berg, and Daniel Berg served as pallbearers.
Interment was at the St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery on Dutch Lake.
Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Cokato and Howard Lake served the family.
