Evelyn Dorothy Lutter
Evelyn Lutter, age 83 of Howard Lake, died Thursday, Feb. 28 at the Waconia Ridgeview Medical Center.
Evelyn Dorothy Lutter was born May 17, 1918, at Howard Lake, the daughter of Edward and Ida (nee Albrecht) Shepperd. Growing up in Woodland Township, she was a life-long member of St. James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake.
She was baptized June 17, 1918, by the Rev. A. L. Oetjen and confirmed in her faith March 20, 1932, by the Rev. C. G. Seltz.
Evelyn was united in marriage to Orville Lutter Oct. 25, 1939, with the Rev. C. G. Seltz officiating. This union was blessed with the births of three children.
They made their home on a farm north of Howard Lake for 62 years. She worked on the farm and helped show their horses at numerous horse shows.
Evelyn was always willing to help her family and others. She enjoyed gardening and quilting.
As a member of St. James Lutheran Church, she was a member and held several offices in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. In addition, she taught Sunday school for over 20 years, sang in the church and ladies choirs, and, as an Elder's wife, decorated the church for Christmas and served at special occasions.
She was also a member of the Wright County Home Extension Club.
While a patient at the Waconia Ridgeview Medical Center, Evelyn was called to her eternal rest at the age of 83 years, nine months, and 11 days.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Ida Shepperd.
She is survived by her husband, Orville; children, Merlyn and Kathy Lutter, Norman and Ardys Lutter, and Jean and Ricky Ostgulen; grandchildren, Lois Zeigler, Nancy and Doug Hasz, Janet and Dan Henjum, James and Stephanie Lutter, Joel Lutter, Jil and Jason Slegh; and nine great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by three sisters-in-law, Verna and Homer Peterson, Luaine and Robert Lundeen, and Lyla Lutter; nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Monday, March 4, at 11 a.m., at St. James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake, with the Rev. Michael Nirva and the Rev. Martin Schoenfeld officiating.
Special music was provided by the LWML Choir, and Nancy Butterfass served as organist.
Pallbearers were Richard Eckhoff, Edward Curry, Philip Luhman, Jeremy Kadlec, Virgil Birkholz, and Albert Strohschein.
Interment was at the Howard Lake City Cemetery.
Arrangements were made by Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Howard Lake.
