Violet Bernice Mallak
Violet Bernice Mallak, age 85, of Silver Lake, entered her eternal rest Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at the Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park.
Violet was born Jan. 3, 1917, to Michael and Helen (Wozniak) Kautz in Hale Township, McLeod County. She spent her youth on the farm and received her education at Pleasant Hills in Hale Township.
She was united in marriage May 13, 1937, to Martin M. Mallak at St. Adalbert Church in Silver Lake. To this union three children were born. Violet was a homemaker, farmers wife, and worked at Tonka Toys.
Violet was a member of Holy Family Church, Council of Catholic Women, and the Rosary Society. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, needlepoint, reading, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by by her parents; husband, Martin; daughter, Darlene; and sister, Virginia Mallak.
She is survived by her children, Marian Mallak of Delano, Sherilyn (Tom) Ashwill of Cokato, daughter-in-law, Sharon Mallak of Howard Lake; grandchildren, Stacy Mallak, Stephanie Grover, Suzette (Jeff) Habisch, Samantha Mallak, Lisa (John) Holmquist, Lori (Jesse) Trebil, Wade Ashwill; great-grandchildren, Brianna, Sean, Sierra, Jaxen, Blake, Riley, and Michael; and sister-in-law, Jean Witucki of Minneapolis.
Funeral services were Monday, April 15, 2002, 10:30 a.m., at Holy Family Church, Silver Lake, with the Rev. Robert Mraz officiating.
Alice Nowak served as organist. The Holy Family adult choir sang "Alleluia," "The Strife Is Over," "Be Not Afraid," "On Eagle's Wings," and "How Great Thou Art."
Casketbearers were Marcel Mallak, Jeremy Mallak, Brian Mallak, Bruce Wickland, Gene Malz, and Jeff Habisch.
Interment was at St. Adalbert Cemetery, Silver Lake.
Arrangements were made by Maresh Funeral Home, Silver Lake.
