Marjorie Marie Miles

Marjorie Marie Miles, age 80, of Winsted, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at St. Mary's Care Center.

Marjorie was born Nov. 2, 1921, in New Castle, Pa., the daughter of John and Marie Maumbaugh McNicholas. She graduated from New Castle High School in 1940.

Marjorie McNicholas was joined in holy marriage to Alex Miles June 17, 1945, in New Castle, Pa. God blessed their marriage with two children ­ Nancy and Ronald. Alex C. Miles preceded his wife in death suddenly March 30, 1999.

Marjorie was a former telephone operator with Bell Telephone Company in New Castle, Pa., and General Telephone Company in Belvidere, Ill.

The Miles family moved to Winsted in 1971, and Marjorie was employed as a switch board operator at Sterner Lighting Systems, Incorporated for the next 20 years.

She formerly attended The Presbyterian Church in Winsted.

Marjorie lived for being with her beloved husband, Alex, and being with her two children. She also enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition, through the years she was an avid reader and took pleasure from many books.

In addition to her beloved husband, Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Herbert, Ernest, LeRoy, and Homer McNicholas; and by a sister, Dorothy DeMasi.

She is survived by a loving daughter, Nancy L. DeBruin of Winsted; and a loving son, Ronald A. (Patricia A.) Miles of Lakeville; grandchildren, John DeBruin of Mankato and Linda Nowak of Winsted; a step-grandchild, Cinthia Davis of Prior Lake; great-granddaughters, Alexandra and Erin Nowak; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services for Marjorie Marie Miles were Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 10 a.m. at The Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted. The Rev. Robert E. Mortvedt officiated, and interment followed at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
