Wilton R. Miller
Wilton R. Miller, age 73, of rural Howard Lake, passed away peacefully at his home Friday, Feb. 15, 2002.
Wilton was born Oct. 19, 1928, in Middleville Township, Wright County, the oldest of four children born to Lloyd and Martha (Linkert) Miller. He was baptized at his parents home by the Rev. C. G. Seltz and confirmed in his faith May 16, 1943 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Middleville by the Rev. John Kalusmeier. He lived his entire life in Middleville Township other than the time he spent in the service of his county as a member of the United States Army.
He was married Oct. 28, 1960, to Eldora (Dorie) Neumann at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Edina. To this union six beloved children were born: Joel, Julie, Ann, Donna, Alan, and Ruth. Wilton and Dorie farmed all their married life north of Howard Lake in Middleville. It was here they raised their children, teaching them a love of God, family, the land, and their fellow man.
Wilton's main hobby was watching his children and grandchildren grow. He enjoyed being with them, loving them, arguing with them, telling them how to spend and not to spend their money, but most of all, he loved loving them and took great pride in all they did.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Martha Miller; one brother, Harold, who died in infancy; and one sister, Eldora Durand.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Dorie; his children, Joel Miller of Howard Lake, Julie (Michael) McSweeney of Plymouth, Ann (Randy) Sheahan of Schofield, Wis., Donna (Paul) Brezinka of Normal, Ill., Alan Miller of Howard Lake, Ruth (Dave) Oestriech of Howard Lake; and six beloved grandchildren, Jessica, Lindsay, Caitlin, Madison, Mackenzie, and Drew.
He also leaves to mourn his sister, Ellen (Truman) Parker of Darby, Kan.; aunts and uncles, Vic and Ethel Miller, Ella Miller, Bernice Miller, and Leonard Miller; cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services took place Feb. 19, 2002, at St. James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake with the Rev. Martin Schoenfeld officiating. The organist was Nancy Butterfass.
Following cremation, interment will be at the Howard Lake Cemetery.
Arrangements were made by the Swanson Peterson Funeral Home of Howard Lake.
