Wilmar D. Pawelk
Wilmar D. Pawelk, age 85, of New Germany, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at St. Mary's Care Center, Winsted.
Wilmar was born March 4, 1916 at Camden Township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Pawelk (nee Ida Wischnack). Wilmar was baptized March 26, 1916, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, New Germany by the Rev. Theo Rolf, and confirmed April 13, 1930, at St. Mark Lutheran Church by Rev. Rolf.
Wilmar was united in marriage to Selma Lueck Sept. 25, 1940 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer by the Rev. R. E. Swandt.
He enjoyed gardening and fishing, and liked spending time in his tool shed, listening to old time music, and watching old movies.
Wilmar was a member of the New Germany Legion Post 601.
Wilmar is preceded in death by his wife, Selma; daughter, LaMay Schelitzche; parents, Gustav and Ida Pawelk.
He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Chester Hoernemann of Lester Prairie; grandchildren, Charlene and Bruce Anderson, Bonnie and Roger Roy, Debora Noerenberg and friend Terry Habisch, Sheri Hoernemann, Cindy and Jerry Gueningsman, Jeremy and Penny Schelitzche, Justin Schelitzche.
He is further survived by his great-grandchildren, Christene Gueningsman, Courtney Gueningsman, Brandon and Alissa Roy, Amanda Noerenberg, Nicholas Habisch, Nicole and Kayla Gueningsman, Brad, Jaymes and Brittany Schelitzche; great-great-grandson, Tucker Karels; sister and brother-in-law, Iris and Walter Schultz of Lester Prairie;
Sisters-in-law, Wanda Tesch of Watertown, Leona Latzig of New Germany; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were Thursday, Jan. 31, 1 p.m., at St. Mark Lutheran Church, New Germany, with the Rev. Allen Holthus officiating.
Casketbearers were Jeremy Schelitzche, Justin Schelitzche, Bruce Anderson, Roger Roy, Terry Habisch, Jerry Gueningsman.
Interment was at St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery, New Germany, and the New Germany Legion Post 601 conducted military graveside services.
Arrangements were made by the Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia.
