Leo F. Schmitz
Leo F. Schmitz, 68, of rural Wadena, died Sunday, Oct.
13, 2002, at his home.
He was born Sept. 19, 1934, to Nick and Lucille (Reiger)
Schmitz in Wadena. He married Minerva Ritten June 13, 1961, at St. Nicholas
Catholic Church in Belle River.
Leo was a dairy farmer and lifetime member of the Wadena
community, a member of the Catholic Aid Association, and Verndale Lions
Club. He enjoyed spending time and visiting with family and friends, fishing,
and playing cards.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother,
Albert.
Leo is survived by his wife Minerva of Wadena; sons John
(fiancee Brandy), Robert, David and Steve, all of Wadena; daughters Deb
(Clem) Crowley of Howard Lake, Donna (Jim) Hughes of Dassel, Bonnie (Pete)
Gebhart of Detroit Lakes, Darlene (Scott) Fah of Hewitt, Marlene (George
Jr.) Lipinski of Hewitt, JoAnn Norris of Eagle Bend, Mary Jo Schmitz of
St. Joseph, and Tina (Louis) Wegscheid of Wadena.
He is further survived by his brothers Nick (Pat) Schmitz
and Tony (Eva) Schmitz of Wadena; his twin sister Gert (Harvey) Roggenkamp,
of Nisswa; 25 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Thursday, Oct. 17 at 10:30 a.m. at
St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Wadena, with the Rev. Albert Holmes officiating.

Pallbearers were Dan Lorentz, John Uselman, Jim Derby,
Jim Richter, Ed Richter, and Tom Schmitz. Honorary pallbearers were all
of his grandchildren.
