Ralph H. Stahlke
Ralph H. Stahlke, age 91, of Watertown, and formerly of
New Germany, died Friday, Sept. 6, 2002, at Elim Home in Watertown.
He was born Jan. 30, 1911, in Waconia, the son of William
and Alice (nee Vahl) Stahlke. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church
in Waconia by the Rev. William Schneider, and also confirmed by the Rev.
Schneider in May, 1925.
He was united in marriage to Lorna E. Krause Aug. 27, 1935,
at Trinity Lutheran Church, also by the Rev. William Schneider.
Ralph held various offices at St. Mark Lutheran Church.
As a member of the New Germany Fire Department, he served as fire chief
for over 20 years. He was also a city clerk for New Germany for many years.
Ralph and Lorna operated a grocery store in New Germany
for 40 years. They also operated an ice cream shop in Hutchinson after their
marriage.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, William and
Alice Stahlke; granddaughter Tara Stahlke; brothers- and sisters-in-law
Waldomier (Pat) Stahlke, Wilbur and Ruth Stahlke, Gilbert and Lillian Stahlke;
father-in-law and mother-in-law Arthur and Alvina Krause; sister-in-law
Joyce Krause; and brother-in-law Lloyd Krause.
He is survived by his wife Lorna; son and daughter-in-law
Ronald and Connie Stahlke of New Germany; daughters LaJean Stahlke of Edina
and Lynda Stahlke of Mound; grandchildren Ricky and Shelley Stahlke, Gary
and Cathy Stahlke, Kristi and Andy Larsen, and Cammi Stahlke;
great-grandchildren, Ryan and friend Amber Oltrogge, Reed,
Sarah, and Brenna Oliva, and Claudia; great-great-grandchild Paige;
brother and sisters-in-law Dwain and Ruth Stahlke of Waverly,
Irene Stahlke of Waconia; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002, 10:30 a.m.,
at St. Mark Lutheran Church, New Germany. The Rev. Allen Holthus officiated
the service.
The New Germany Fire Department stood guard at the funeral
home and attended the funeral as a group.
Interment was at St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery in New Germany.
Ralph’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren served as
casketbearers.
Arrangements were made by Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia.
