Arthur Strauss
Arthur Strauss, age 87, of Winsted, died Wednesday, July
3, 2002, at St. Mary’s Care Center.
He was born July 10, 1914, in Victor Township, Wright County,
the son of Frank and Mary Osterbauer Strauss.
Arthur Strauss and Clarine Quast were joined in holy marriage
Oct. 14, 1947, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. God blessed their
marriage for nearly 53 years.
Arthur and Clarine farmed south of Cokato for many years.
Clarine M. Strauss preceded her husband in death Oct. 8, 2000.
Through the years, Art also worked at VanDale and at Hess
Seed Corn.
He was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church
in Winsted. He also belonged to American Legion Post 407, VFW Post 9232,
Knights of Columbus Council 8253, and Catholic Order of Foresters Holy Trinity
Court 1054.
In addition to his wife, Arthur was preceded in death by
his parents: Frank and Mary Strauss; a sister, Marie Oestreich; a brother,
Jim Strauss; half-brothers, John “Jack” Schlagel and Joseph “Sep”
Schlagel; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Fidelia Schultz, Genevieve
Schermann, William “Bill” Quast, Jerome Quast, Albin Nowak, Marvin
Ogitzak, Ernest Schultz and Marvin Oestreich.
Arthur is survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law,
Mercedes Nowak and Alma Ogitzak, both of Silver Lake, Joe (Irene) Quast
of Elk River, Theresa (Jim) Hance of Big Lake, Raphael (Lorraine) Quast
of Winsted, John (Mary) Quast of Sanford, Mich., James (Sharon) Quast of
Buffalo, Rosella Quast of Winsted, Mary Quast of White Bear Lake, and Donald
Schermann of Winsted; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Arthur Strauss was Saturday,
July 6, 11 a.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. The Rev. Paul
L. Wolf was the celebrant, and interment with military rites followed at
Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Friends called at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted Friday,
July 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. A combined Knights of Columbus and Catholic Order
of Foresters Rosary was recited at 6:30 p.m., an American Legion Ritual
was at 7:15 p.m., and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Gary Guennigsman, Rhonda Chloupek, Brian Schermann, Carolyn
Hemerick, Doug Oestreich, and Harvey Oestreich served as casket bearers.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
