Lorraine Helen Terlinden
Lorraine Helen Terlinden, age 79, of Howard Lake, passed away Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002, at Howard Lake Good Samaritan Center in Howard Lake.
Lorraine Helen Terlinden was born April 28, 1923, in Delta County, Mich., the daughter of John and Anna (Kositzke) Gustafson.
She was baptized at Salem Lutheran Church, Escanaba, Mich., by Rev. Doehler Oct. 14, 1923, and confirmed in her faith at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Gladstone, Mich., by Rev. Thoephil Hoffman Aug. 9, 1936.
She was united in marriage to Rudolph Terlinden of Lester Prairie at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Gladstone Dec. 11, 1948.
They moved to Minnesota and Lorraine worked as a dental assistant in the Medical Arts Building in Minneapolis until 1962 when they moved to Howard Lake.
Lorraine and Rudy purchased the local Our Own Hardware store from the Narveruds, and operated Terlinden's Our Own Hardware from 1967 to 1979.
Lorraine was active in her church and community. She was a member of the St. James LWML, Sarah Bible Study Group, Sunday Adult Bible Study Group, the LWML Ladies Choir, and the Auxiliary of the Good Samaritan Care Center.
Due to illness, Lorraine entered the Howard Lake Good Samaritan Care Center in August of this year, and was called to her eternal rest at the age of 79 years, two months, and 13 days.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband Rudy and parents, John and Anna Gustafson.
She is survived by two sisters, Ruth Carlson of Escanaba, Mich., Barbara (Roger) Anderson of Mendota, Ill.; brother Robert (Patricia) Gustafson of Napa, Calif.; nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives, and friends.
Visitation was Thursday, Nov. 14 from 4 to 8 p.m., at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Visitation was also one hour prior to the service.
A funeral service for Lucille took place Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, 2 p.m., at St. James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake with Rev. Michael Nirva officiating.
The organist was Nancy Butterfass, with special music by the "Singing Angels" first and second grade choir of St. James School and the LWML Ladies Choir.
Pallbearers were Ernie Johnson, Lorin Anderson, Mark Ostlund, Kermit Terlinden, Howard Weckworth, and Welton Zander.
Interment was at First Lutheran Church Cemetery, Glencoe.
Arrangements were by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Howard Lake.
