Laura Truwe died Thursday, Feb. 28 at St. Mary's Care Center, Winsted.
She was born Dec. 21, 1917 at Laketown Township, Carver County, Minn., the daughter of Otto and Erna B. (Luebke) Hasse. She was baptized Jan. 14, 1918 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waconia by the Rev. William Schneider and confirmed by the same March 29, 1931.
On June 15, 1938 she married Gregory W. Truwe at Trinity Lutheran Church, officiated by the Reverend William Schneider.
She is best remembered for the enjoyment she received being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very active in church affairs serving with LWML. Zion church altar guild, and a ladies quilting group. She served on the Lutheran High School Guild; cooked at Zion Lutheran School for many years and worked for 11 years at Ridgeview Hospital.
She enjoyed fishing, playing cards, dancing, baking and working her flower and vegetable garden. Laura was a gentle, loving, caring person.
Preceding her in death were her husband Gregory, grandson Anthony Torrence Glenn, her parents, Otto and Erna Hasse and brothers, Wilbert, Roy, Marvin and Elloyd.
Surviving her are her children and spouses, Carol and Roger Allrich of Osceola, Wis.; Dennis and Sharon Truwe of St. Francis; Barbara and Dennis Hoese of Watertown; Gary and Faye Truwe of Indianapolis, Ind.; Lonna and Denis Kruschke of Glencoe; and grandchildren, Joel, Steve, and Debbie; Jay and Carrey; Nathan, Lyle and Rory; Nicholas, Shelly and Torrence, Brenda, Dana and Doug; Holly and fiancee Gene; Gregory and fiancee Jamie; Christopher and Lynette, Shauna and Scott, Darla and Karl, DeAnn and Charlie, Debra and Mark, Danette, Dayle and friend Nikki; Donya and Dale; great-grandchildren, Kelli, Brooke, Brittany, Jordan, Benjamin, Alexander, Elizabeth, Kaylee, Dalton, Courtney, Tyler, Garvin, Savannah, Eric, Jakob, Adam, LaRae, Chase, Hank, Kylie, Emily, Michael and Jordan.
She is also survived by a sister, Ruth Kloos of Chaska; brother and sisters-in-law, Elton and Martha Hasse of Denver, Colo.; Leilah Presseller of Waconia; Sylvia Hasse of Prior Lake; Arlene Hasse of Appleton; Betty Hasse of Chaska; aunt Florence Truwe of Waconia, nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Laura A. Truwe, age 84 of Mayer, were Tuesday, March 5, 2002. The Reverends Peter Meier and Jeff Harter officiated the 11 a.m. service at Zion Lutheran Church, Mayer.
Interment was at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Her grandsons served as casketbearers and her granddaughters were honorary casketbearers.
