Raymond Vollrath, age 75, of Winsted, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
He was born Oct. 29, 1927, in Hollywood Township, Carver County, the son of Adolph and Johanna Speiger Vollrath.
Raymond honorably served his country in the United States Army from May 1, 1951, until Jan. 31, 1953.
He was formerly employed as a draftsman for the State of Minnesota and belonged to American Legion Post 407 in Winsted.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, brother Elmer, and sister Ruth Peterson.
He is survived by his brothers Ruben Vollrath of Annandale, Howard (Nora) Vollrath of Winsted, Norman (Annette) Vollrath of Ray, Minn., Marvin (Ordella) Vollrath of Grand Rapids, and Edwin (Lois) Vollrath of Coon Rapids; brother-in-law John Peterson of Bethel; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services for Raymond Vollrath were Saturday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m., at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winsted. Pastor Gerald L. Boldt officiated.
Marsha Christenson was the organist for the funeral service. "Amazing Grace," "My Hope is Built on Nothing Less," and "Abide with Me! Fast Falls the Eventide" were sung as congregational hymns.
Friends called Saturday, Dec. 28, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church one hour prior to service.
Members of the American Legion Post 407 served as casket bearers.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
