Nathan P. “Nate” Westrup
Nathan P. “Nate” Westrup, age 21, of Howard Lake,
died accidentally Wednesday evening, May 29, 2002.
He was born June 17, 1980 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Winsted,
the son of Kenneth A. and Karen E. Kohler Westrup.
Nate graduated from Howard Lake-Waverly Winsted High School
in 1999. While in school, he spent time in band and sang in the choir.
He belonged to Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted.
Nate attended CCD and was confirmed at the Church of St. Mary in Waverly.
Nate enjoyed playing the electric guitar (lead and base),
writing music, snowboarding, knee boarding, and being a member of the band
Jungerbaum.
He was currently employed at Innovative Laser Machining,
Inc. in Howard Lake.
Nate was preceded in death by his grandfathers Benjamin
“Ben” Kohler and Leonard Westrup and by a cousin, Jared Westrup.
He is survived by his parents, Ken and Karen Westrup of
Howard Lake; sisters and a brother, Sarah, Mathew, and Breanna all at home;
grandmothers, Lorraine Kohler and Anna Westrup, both of Winsted; uncles
and aunts, Lyle (Faith) Kohler, Doug (Donna) Kohler, Mary Ann (Roy) Nelson,
Helen (Jerry) Ekberg, Linus Westrup, Ramona (John) Fillar, Leona (Greg)
Irmiter, David Westrup, Kathy (Louis) Quast; many cousins, other relatives,
and friends
A Mass of Christian Burial for Nathan P. “Nate”
Westrup was Monday, June 3, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church
in Winsted. The Rev. Paul L. Wolf was the celebrant, and interment followed
at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Friends called Sunday, June 2, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the
Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted.
A prayer service was Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m.
Brent Machtemes, Bruce Machtemes, Greg Nelson, Neal Westrup,
Mark Kohler, and Gregg Kohler served as casket bearers.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
