Roland J. Zellmann
Roland J. Zellmann, age 91, of New Germany died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at Good Samaritan Center in Waconia.
He was born Sept. 18, 1911, at Camden Township, Carver County, the son of Fred and Theresa (nee Lehrke) Zellmann.
He was baptized Oct. 15, 1911, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Young America, by Rev. Baumhoefner and confirmed April 5, 1925, at St. John's Lutheran Church Young America by Rev. M. F. Abraham.
He married Arles E. Pawelk Oct. 24, 1936, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, New Germany, with Rev. Theodore Rolf officiating.
Most of Roland's life was spent farming. He also worked at the sugar beet factory, Tonka Toys, J.R. Clark, and Advance Machines. During his retirement, he enjoyed helping his children, gardening, and doing carpentry work.
Roland was preceded in death by great-granddaughter Tara Stahlke, parents Fred Sr. and Theresa Zellmann, brothers and sisters-in-law Otto and Della Zellmann, Fred Jr. and Anna Marie Zellmann, Herman Zellmann, Elroy Zellmann;
sisters and brothers-in-law Clara and Otto Manske, Hilma and Alfred Feltmann, Olga Zellmann, Elsie and John Grimm, Theresa and Ed Karels, Adeline and William Hafemann;
father-in-law and mother-in-law Emil and Emelia Pawelk; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Oscar and Mabel Pawelk, Henry and Lillie Lohrke, George and Ida Reese, Paul and Agnes Jakubik, and Roy Pawelk.
He is survived by his wife Arles, daughter and son-in-law Connie and Ronald Stahlke of New Germany, son and daughter-in-law Marlo and Linda Zellmann of Norwood Young America, grandchildren Rick and Shelley Stahlke, Gary and Cathy Stahlke, Kristi and Andrew Larsen, Cammi Stahlke, Joy and Andrew Cook, Clint and Mary Zellmann, and Grace Zellmann.
He is further survived by 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Margaret Zellmann Burau, Marcella Pawelk, Edwin and Clara Pawelk; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, 11 a.m., at St. Mark Lutheran Church, New Germany, with Rev. Allen Holthus officiating.
Casketbearers were Rick Stahlke, Gary Stahlke, Andrew Larsen, Andrew Cook, Clint Zellmann, and Steven Marsden.
Interment was at St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery.
Arrangements were made by Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia.
