Lloyd Erwin Bastin

Lloyd Erwin Bastin, age 70, of Cokato, passed away Saturday, Feb. 22 at home in Cokato.

Lloyd was born Feb. 19, 1933 in Clear Lake to Earl and Ethel (Robinson) Bastin. He grew up in Clear Lake and attended school there.

He was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Ramey, Minn.

Lloyd married Inez Kommer Oct. 25, 1952, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in St. Cloud. They made their homes in St. Cloud, Sauk Rapids, Fairhaven, and finally settling in Cokato, on the farm north of Smith Lake.

Lloyd worked for various contractors operating equipment. He was a member of the 49ers Union, Local 49. Fishing, deer hunting, fixing cars, and playing cribbage were some of the activities that Lloyd enjoyed.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, wife Inez, step-mother Carolyn Bastin, step-brother Ralph Mager, and step-sister Margie Coulter.

He is survived by his children, Gloriann (Kenneth) Kucera of Silver Lake, Linda (Gerry) Rosenow of Hutchinson, Lila (Carl) Benson of Plattsmouth, Neb., Robin (Bruce) Anderson of Hanover, Alan of Minneapolis, Denise (Daryl) Brown of Goshen, Ohio, and Sharon Bastin of Cokato;

15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, brothers Earl "Jim" (Madeline "Tweets") Bastin of St. Cloud, and Francis (Irene) Bastin of Sartell, and step-sister Donna Hanson of Princeton.

Visitation took place Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003,from 4 to 8 p.m. at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato and one hour prior to the service at church.

Funeral services for Lloyd Bastin were Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m., at Evangelical Lutheran Church, Cokato.

Interment was at the Cokato City Cemetery.
