Sevilla Marvena Wilhelmina Birkholz
of Lester Prairie, entered her eternal rest Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003 at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia at the age of 96 years, seven months, and 17 days.
Sevilla was born the daughter of Theodore and Bertha (Kuhlmann) Seemann Jan. 17, 1907 in Bergen Township.
She was baptized Feb. 17, 1907 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie by the Rev. Buscher. Sevilla was later confirmed into the faith in April 1921, also at St. Peter's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Baumhafner. She attended St. Peter's Lutheran School in Bergen Township.
Sevilla was united in marriage to Albert Birkholz June 18, 1925 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Bergen Township, and later moved to Winsted, and then to Lester Prairie.
She was a member of St. Peter's Ladies Aid for many years, and later joined as a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran LWML for 54 years.
Sevilla enjoyed sewing, gardening, knitting, crocheting, and quilt making. She also loved to spend time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Sevilla is preceded in death by her parents, husband Albert, infant children Earl and Grace, grandson Dean Dibb, brothers Ortwin, Wilmar, and Raymond Seemann, sister Laverna Greshowak, and brothers-in-law George Lampher, Merrill Kempfert, and Albin Greshowak.
She is survived by daughter Arlene (Douglas) Dibb of Lester Prairie, grandchildren David (Nancy) Dibb of Watertown, and Debra (Tom) Smilanich of South St. Paul.
Sevilla is further survived by great grandchildren Corrie Kvasnicka of Lakeville, Toni (Brian) Clemens of Chicago, Ill., Stefan Smilanich of South St. Paul, and Andrea Smilanich of South St. Paul, and great-great grandchildren Michael and Elizabeth Kvasnicka
Sevilla is also survived by sisters Orbina Lampher of Olivia, Caroline Kempfert of Hopkins, and Marcella (Lloyd) Geertgen of Lester Prairie, sister-in-law Idella (Albert) Bahr of Waconia, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Sevilla Birkholz were Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003, at 10 a.m. at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie.
Officiating was the Rev. Grant Bode. The organist was Marsha Christenson, and the congregational hymns were "How Great Thou Art," I Know That My Redeemer Lives," and "Softly and Tenderly."
Serving as casket bearers were David Dibb, Tom Smilanich, Stefan Smilanich, Brian Clemens, Michael Kvasnicka, George Birkholz, and Merrill Kempfert.
Interment was in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Lester Prairie. Visitation was Friday evening at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie.
