Fred Butcher, 70, of Watertown, died Monday, Dec. 28, 2003 at his home in Watertown.
He was born Dec. 10, 1933 to Wilfred Hugh and Vernon (Cass) Butcher in Burwell, Neb.
Fred was in telephone construction for 24 years, until he purchased the Riverside Bar in Watertown. He operated the Riverside Bar until he purchased the Hollywood Sports Complex in Hollywood Township.
Fred is preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Jackie Butcher; his parents Wilfred and Vernon Butcher, sister-in-law Janice Robasse, and brothers-in-law Alvin Janicek, Robert Richert, and Nolan Garska.
Fred is survived by his wife, Beth, of 54 years; sons Dennis (Mary) Butcher, Kary Butcher, and Rick (Lori) Butcher; daughters Karleen (Steve) Florek, and Connie (Bill) Watland.
Fred is further survived by grandchildren Kevin and Jenny Butcher, Keith Butcher and special friend Jess Frock, Jessie and Eric Billiet, Buck and Jill Florek, Hollie and Rick Pufall, Shawn and Jessica Watland, Dylan Butcher, Derek Butcher, Jordan Butcher, and Shane Butcher.
He is also survived by great-grandchildren Victoria, Alaina, Kale, Genavive, Valarie, Tayler, Wyatt, Skyler and Billie; sisters Margaret (Jack) Hazen, Belva Garske, Glayda (Mervin) Scofield; sister-in-law Betty Janicek; and brother-in-law Kenny Robasse.
Memorial services were Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at the Watertown Evangelical Free Church. The Rev. Paul Kling officiated, with music provided by pianist Amy Strandquist, bagpiper Pari Bailey, and soloists Jerry Hendricks and Sarah Cleveland.
Honorary casketbearers were Fred's grandchildren Kevin Butcher, Hollie Pufall; Keith Butcher, Jessie Billiet, Shawn Watland, Christopher "Buck" Florek, Jordan Butcher, Dylan Butcher, Shane Butcher, and Derek Butcher.
