Adeline Oas DesMarais, 95
Adeline Oas DesMarais, age 95, of Buffalo, and formerly of Maple Lake, died July 10, 2003 at The Ebenezer Covenant Home.
She was born Sept. 11, 1907 in Swaledale, Iowa the daughter of W. J. & Louise Yegge McCoy.
Adeline graduated from high school in Woonsocket, S.D. and later attended Teacher's Normal School.
Adeline McCoy and Saras J. Oas were joined in holy marriage Nov. 11, 1933 in Woonsocket, S.D. God blessed their marriage with four children. Mr. Oas preceded his wife in death Oct. 19, 1969.
Adeline Oas & Osmund J. DesMarais were joined in holy marriage Dec. 1, 1979 in Buffalo, Minn.
She was formerly employed as a rural school teacher in South Dakota. Adeline also worked at St. Timothy's School cafeteria in Maple Lake and later worked at the Wright County Retirement Center in Buffalo for 17 years. While working at the retirement center, Adeline became an LPN.
She was a faithful member of the Church of St. Francis in Buffalo and a former member of the Church of St. Timothy in Maple Lake.
Adeline is survived by her husband Osmund "O.J." DesMarais of Buffalo, children Teresa (Clarence "Clancy") Campbell of Winsted, Leo (Diane) Oas of Poplar Grove, Ill., Virginia "Ginny" (Lauren) Marquette of Buffalo and Dennis (Judy) Oas of Mound; Step-children Jerome (Mary) DesMarais, Joanne (Robert) Spangler and Jackie (Alvin) Streich and families; 19 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, four great, great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her first husband, Adeline was preceded in death by her parents William and Louise McCoy, 10 brothers and sisters, a son-in-law, and by a granddaughter.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Adeline Oas DesMarais was Saturday, July 12 at 10 a.m. at the Church of St. Francis in Buffalo. Father Tom Rayar was the Celebrant, and interment followed at St. Charles Cemetery in Chatham Township.
Friends called Friday, July 11 at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo from 4 to 8 p.m. A prayer service was at 7:30 p.m.
Casket bearers were Jerry, Robert, Bill, and Dan Marquette, Mark Campbell, Robert, Bill, and Michael Oas.
The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo served the family.
