Ellen Felicia Dirkswager
Ellen Felicia Dirkswager, age 95, of Winsted, and formerly of Maple Lake, died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at St. Mary's Care Center.
She was born May 2, 1907, in Maple Lake, the daughter of John and Emma Schmidt Hamilton.
Ellen graduated from Maple Lake High School in 1925 and later attended Normal School. She taught school in French Lake for several years.
Ellen Hamilton and Richard Dirkswager were joined in holy marriage Feb. 9, 1928, at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake. Father O'Brien officiated at the wedding ceremony. God blessed their marriage with a daughter, Donna.
Ellen was formerly employed for 20 years at Minnetonka Moccasin.
She had been a resident of Winsted since 1971, and was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted and belonged to the St. Anne's Society.
Ellen was preceded in death by her husband Richard A. Dirkswager in 1951, four sisters, and six brothers.
She is survived by daughter Donna J. (Art) Guggemos of Winsted; grandchildren Gary Guggemos of Winsted, Nancy (Rick) Greenfield of Minnetonka, Jon Guggemos of Winsted, Jill (Dave) Gunderson of Brooklyn Park, Gregg (Liz Kiecker) Guggemos of Winsted, Lori (John) Stephan of Shoreview, Charles Guggemos of Winsted, and Neal (Julie) Guggemos of Eden Prairie; 11 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Murella Hamilton of Buffalo; other relatives, and friends.
A Memorial Mass for Ellen Dirkswager was Wednesday, April 23 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. Father Paul L. Wolf was the celebrant and interment followed at St. Timothy's Cemetery in Maple Lake.
Friends called Wednesday, April 23 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
