Albert Casper Ernhart
Albert Casper Ernhart, age 75, of Howard Lake, passed away Thursday, June 19.
Albert was born on April 1, 1928, in Winsted to Martin and Bertha (Schmalz) Ernhart.
At eight months old, his mother passed away. Mollie and Herman Woyke raised him in their home on Granite Lake.
He attended Granite Lake School, Dykman School, and Annandale school. He was baptized at Holy Trinity of Winsted and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran of Middleville Township.
Albert served in the US Army from 1945 to 1947, and continued to be a member of the Howard Lake Legion.
He married Elaine Posusta Feb. 20, 1950, at St. Joseph Church in Sliver Lake, by Rev. S.J. Skluzacek.
They first made their home in Dassel, before moving to a farm east of Silver Lake, then to Winsted, Howard Lake, Annandale, and back to Howard Lake in 1967, where they made their home of 37 years.
During this time Albert farmed and drove truck for Howard Lake Ready Mix, hauling gravel and cement. Albert was a devoted husband to Elaine of 53 years, a father who ruled with a stern, soft hand yielded with love, and a grandpa who's lap was always safe and full of advice.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, and many woodworking projects. Albert's wit and humor touched all; family, countless friends, and even strangers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Bertha, by his surrogate parents, Molly and Herman Woyke, and siblings Mary Syse, Bertha Belisle, Louis, Jim and Frank Ernhart.
He is survived by wife Elaine; children Dave Ernhart of Cokato, Bev (Dan) Dreis of Black River Falls, Wis., Barbara (Guy) Jarvi of Webster, Tim (Beth) Ernhart of Buffalo, and Lisa (DeNeil) Thompson of Silver Lake; grandchildren Joel Libor, Shawn Libor, Dawn Libor, Lori Baird, Sarah Mattson, Darren Thompson, Mitchell Thompson, and Chad Thompson.
