Ralph Clarence Fern
Ralph Clarence Fern, of Howard Lake, passed away Monday, April 21 at Meeker County Memorial Hospital in Litchfield. He had reached the age of 70 years, four months, and 10 days.
Ralph was born Dec. 11, 1932, in Melrose, the son of Alfred and Loretta (Knapp) Fern.
Ralph graduated from Melrose High School in 1951. He served his country during the Korean War from 1952- 1956.
Ralph was united in marriage to Mary Jane Moritz June 25, 1957, at Our Lady's of Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. This union was blessed with five children.
After returning from the war, Ralph was a barber for over 20 years. He then went to work for Millerbernds Manufacturing Com-pany of Winsted as a welder. He retired from there in 1993.
Ralph was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Waverly, Knights of Columbus (4th Degree) and a member of the Chanhassen Legion Post 580. In his free time, Ralph enjoyed ice fishing, hunting, woodworking, and retirement time with his grandchildren.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Edward and David, and infant grandson baby Henz.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years Mary Jane; children Raphael (Sandy) Fern and Deborah (Robert) Workman, both of Howard Lake, Mary (Patrick) Henz of Arlington, Texas, Daniel Fern of Caracas, Venezuela, Michael (Laurine) Fern of Flower Mount, Texas; six grandchildren; brothers Tom, Jim, Jerry, Al, John, and Ron, one sister: Jenny Fisher; brother-in-law Jerome Moritz; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, April 25, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Waverly.
Celebrants of the Mass were Deacon Mike Thoeness and Father Ray Prybis.
Music was provided by Therese Borrell and the St. Mary's Choir.
Casketbearers were Tari Rozenberg, Todd Rozenberg, Adam Rozenberg, Rick Moritz, Ron Moritz, and Don Fern.
Interment was at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Arrangements were made by Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Cokato and Howard Lake.
