Earl A. Gatz
Earl A. Gatz, 74, a lifelong resident of Waconia, passed
away Sat., March 8, 2003, at Good Samaritan Center in Waconia.
Earl was born Nov. 1, 1928, in Watertown Township to William
and Arline (Zieroth) Gatz. He was baptized Nov. 23, 1928, and later confirmed
March 29, 1942, both by Rev. William Schneider at Trinity Lutheran Church
in Waconia.
Earl married Lois L. Hill Feb. 3, 1951, at Trinity Lutheran
Church. The ceremony was performed by Rev. John Spomer.
Earl graduated from Waconia High School and served in the
U.S. Army. He was also a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Waconia,
having served as elder, secretary, vice president, money counter, and did
various handyman chores at church.
Earl enjoyed assisting Lois in making pie crusts for the
annual apple pie project and also enjoyed baking cookies and sharing them
with others. He was also very proud of keeping his car very clean and working
with roses and his yard.
He was preceeded in death by parents William C. and Arline
C. Gatz, and brothers-in-law Donald Lindner and Dennis Wildermuth.
He is survived by his loving wife Lois, son Steve Gatz
of Waconia, daughter and son-in-law Mary and Barry LaBounty of Chanhassen,
grandchildren Luke and Reed LaBounty, sisters and brother-in-law Evelyn
Wildermuth of Eden Prairie, Carol and Roger Dressel of St. Bonifacius, sisters-in-law
and brothers-in-law Harriet and Bob Johnson of Watertown, Helen and Larry
Stahlke of Waconia, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A funeral service for Earl C. Gatz took place Tuesday,
March 11 at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waconia. Rev. Peter Peitsch
officiated the service.
Casket bearers were David Johnson, Paul Johnson, Mark Bender,
Nathan Lindner, Stuart Stahlke, and Lori Wildermuth.
Interment was at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Waconia.
Johnson Funeral Home of Waconia served the family.
