Joyce A. Gruenhagen
Joyce A. Gruenhagen, age 72, of Howard Lake, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 26 at Hennepin County Medical Center from injuries acquired from a farm accident.
Joyce was born February 22, 1931 in Marysville Township the daughter of Wallace and Emma (Perisan) Marquette. She was baptized and confirmed at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake.
She was united in marriage to Elton E. Gruenhagen at St. James Lutheran Church March 29, 1958. Their marriage was blessed with four children.
She loved living and working on the family farm. She also enjoyed the company of her family, especially her grandchildren. Gardening was a favorite activity of hers and she took pleasure in her many flowers.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 45 years, Elton; children Craig (Debra) Gruenhagen of Howard Lake, Cheryl (William) Morris of Alpena, Mich., and Brian (Rena) Gruenhagen of Howard Lake.
She is further survived by grandchildren Nathan and Ryan Gruenhagen, Amanda, Jessica and Daniel Morris, and Tyler and Gabrielle Gruenhagen.
Joyce is also survived by sisters Beulah Stoppelman of Maple Lake and Myrtle Gruenhagen of Howard Lake; brother Percy Marquette of Buffalo; sister-in-law Erla Mae Jackson of Phoeniz, Ariz.; nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; son Wayne Gruenhagen; brothers James Marquette, Alvin Marquette, and Harland Marquette; and sisters Rozella Zander and Verona Bruska.
Funeral services for Joyce were at St. James Lutheran Church Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003 at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Michael Nirva and the Rev. Martin Schoenfeld officiating.
The organist was Nancy Butterfass.
Honorary casketbearers were Amanda Morris, Jessica Morris, and Gabrielle Gruenhagen.
Casketbearers were Robert Wackler, Dale Barth, David Gruenhagen, Glenn Gruenhagen, Nathan Gruenhagen, Ryan Gruenhagen, Tyler Gruenhagen and Daniel Morris.
Interment was at the Howard Lake Cemetery.
Arrangements were by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Howard Lake.
