Donald Gueningsman, age 70, of McGregor, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003 at the Cuyuna Range Health Care Center in Crosby.
Don was born June 5, 1933, in Winsted to Andrew and Cora Gueningsman. He attended parochial schools in Winsted and entered the Army during the Korean Conflict.
He served in the 34th Signal Corps and received the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Occupational Medal.
He worked in the automotive business most of his life. The past 25 years, he lived in McGregor and operated Don's Towing Service.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the McGregor VFW Larson-Duneen Post No. 2747, was past commander, and a member of the color guard.
He is survived by son Gary and daughter Joan, step-daughter Barb Peterson, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, brother Joseph of Winsted, sisters Bernice Quast of Anoka, Theresa Fasching of Winsted, and Marie Quast of Excelsior.
Funeral Mass was Friday, Sept. 19 at 11 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in McGregor, with Father John Fleischaker officiating. Interment were in the Holy Trinity Cemetery Saturday in Winsted. Pat Monson was organist.
Military rites were conducted by the McGregor VFW Post No. 2724. Arrangements are with the McGregor Funeral Home.
Pallbears were David Quast, Don Peterson, Scott Anderson, Brent Speldrich, and Paul Skaj. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Larson-Duneen VFW Post No. 2724.
