Erna E. Hartwig
Erna E. Hartwig, age 91, of New Germany, died Monday, March 31, 2003, at Elim Home in Watertown.
Erna was born Oct. 1, 1911, in Camden Township, Carver County, the daughter of Franz F. and Ida (Latzig) Lemke.
She was baptized Oct. 29, 1911, at St. Paul Luther Church Crow River by Rev. Theodore Rolf and confirmed April 5, 1925, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, New Germany, by Rev. Theodore Rolf.
She was united in marriage to Roy R. Hartwig June 25, 1936, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, New Germany, by Rev. Theodore Rolf.
Erna enjoyed being with her family and playing bridge. She was also a member of the New Germany Senior Citizens.
Erna was preceded in death by her husband Roy, her parents Franz and Ida Lemke, sister Hilda Barlau, brothers Paul and Walter Lemke, sister-in-law Lorena Lemke, and brother-in-law Gottlieb Barlau.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Cary and Arlys Hartwig of Lester Prairie, and Sheldon and Marlys Hartwig of Plymouth; and grandchildren Lynne Lombardi, Sherry and Keith Weise, Dean Hartwig and special friend Marj Wente, Greg and Sue Hartwig, Chad Hartwig, Brent Hartwig.
She is further survived by great-grandchildren Kahl, Lejia, Thera, Keenen, Beau, Anastasia, and Mitchell; brother and sisters-in-law Howard and Lucille Lemke of Morton, LaVerne Lemke of Watertown; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Viola Hartwig of Waconia, Helen Dreier of Watertown, Sally and Russ Olson of Mayer, Lorraine Jurek of Hutchinson; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services took place Thursday, April 3, 2003, 11 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, New Germany, with the Rev. Allen Holthus officiating.
Interment was at St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery, New Germany.
Keith Weise, Dean Hartwig, Greg Hartwig, Chad Hartwig, Brent Hartwig, and Luke Midlow served as casketbearers.
Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia, served the family.
