Harold H. Hecksel
Harold H. Hecksel, age 91, of Watertown, died Sunday, March 23, 2003, at Healthcare Center in Delano.
Harold was born Nov. 27, 1911, at Hollywood Township, Carver County, the son of Theodore H. and Lena B. (Kohls) Hecksel.
He was baptized Dec. 17, 1911, at St. John Lutheran Church, Hollywood Township by Rev. Theodore Rolf, and confirmed March 28, 1926 at St. John Lutheran Church, Hollywood Township, by Rev. W. L. Ernst.
Harold married Marie E. Burdorf May 28, 1935, at Emanuel Lutheran in Hamburg by Rev. H. J. Bouman. They were married 67 years.
Harold was an elder both at St. John Lutheran Church in Hollywood and St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Watertown. In 1943, he was a delegate to the Synodical Convention in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Harold was very active in Lutheran Laymans.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Lena Hecksel, brothers Howard Hecksel, Jerome and wife Stella Hecksel, father-in-law and mother-in-law William and Alma Burdorf.
He is survived by his loving wife Marie; son and daughter-in-law Eldor and Nancy Hecksel of Dassel; daughter Joann Guetzkow of Fountain Valley, Calif.; and grandchildren Tammy Schuler, Mark and Julie Hecksel, Tim and Jolean Hecksel, Shawn Hecksel and fiancee Jessica Petrey, Shannon and Kelly Hecksel, Debbie and Matt Geck, Leah and Brad Ponsford, Jason and Candice Guetzkow.
He is further survived by great-grandchildren Rachael, Emma, Ashley, Nicole, Trista, Samantha, Haylee, Madison, Tyler, Quintin, McKenzie, and Gage; sister-in-law Verdella Hecksel of Watertown, brother-in-law John Burdorf of Arlington, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were Friday, March 21, 2003, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Watertown. The Rev. Paul Krentz and Rev. Ronald Mathison officiated the service.
Interment was at Watertown Public Cemetery, Watertown.
Mark Hecksel, Tim Hecksel, Shawn Hecksel, Shannon Hecksel, Jason Guetzkow, and Orville Hecksel served as casketbearers.
Arrangements were made by Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia.
