Anna W. Herrmann
Anna W. Herrmann, 89, of Glencoe, died Wednesday evening, June 4, 2003, at Burns Manor Nursing Home in Hutchinson.
Anna W. Buckentin was born Nov. 1, 1913, in Hamburg to Wilhelm and Martha (Harms) Buckentin. She was baptized on Nov. 9, 1913 at Emanuel Lutheran Church of Hamburg by the Rev. H. Bouman and confirmed by Rev. Bouman at the same church on April 1, 1928.
She was united in marriage to Arthur G. Herrmann June 10, 1933, at Emanuel Lutheran Church of Hamburg by Rev. Bouman. They moved from Hamburg to a farm near Glencoe. In 1974, they retired and moved into Glencoe.
Anna was active in Ladies Aid. She was employed in the canteen at Green Giant seasonally and also was a clerk at the Coast to Coast Store.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed bingo and playing cards in several card clubs.
In 2000, Anna moved into Millie Beneke Manor and then in February 2003 she entered Burns Manor Nursing Home.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband in October of 1982; two sons-in-law, Donald Brinkman and George Blake; three brothers, Ed Buckentin, William Buckentin and Herman Buckentin; two sisters, Ella Melhop and Martha Raether.
Surviving are three sons and one daughter, Willis (Lois) Herrmann of Glencoe, Darlean Brinkman of Glencoe, Larry (Tammy) Herrmann of Brownton and Jerome (Marjorie) Herrmann of Lester Prairie; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother, Bertha Lange of Glencoe, Albert Buckentin of Watertown and Gertrude Droege of Glencoe; two sisters-in-law, Clara Buckentin of Glencoe and Della Herrmann of Norwood Young America.
Funeral services for Anna W. Herrmann, 89, of Glencoe, took place Monday, June 9, from the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, with the Rev. Vance Becker officiating.
The organist was Dawn Wolter, and the congregation sang "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "I'm But A Stranger Here." Flute soloist Vicki Herrmann performed "On Eagles Wings."
Pallbearers were Keith Herrmann, Cory Herrmann, Michael Herrmann, Mark Brinkman, Jeff Blake and Shannon Novotny. The honorary pallbearers were Jennifer Schultz, Terri Novotny, Rebecca Herrmann, Angela Herrmann, Kelly Herrmann, and Peggy Leon.
Interment was in the church cemetery
The Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel of Glencoe handled arrangements.
