Magdalen Ann Hertzog
Magdalen Ann Hertzog, age 83, of Winsted, died Saturday, March 22, 2003, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
She was born August 20, 1919, in Winsted Township, McLeod County the daughter of George and Mary Remer Lachermeier.
On May 31, 1938, Magdalen Ann Lachermeier and Linus Clemence Hertzog were joined in holy marriage at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. God blessed their marriage with four children.
Magdalen and Linus, side by side, engaged in farming for over 60 years, and also a long-time employee of Green Giant Canning Company in Winsted.
She was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted and belonged to its CCW.
Magdalen was preceded in death by her husband Linus C. Hertzog in 2000, son Reginald J. Hertzog in 1986, her parents George and Mary Lachermeier, and brothers Alois, Anthony, Joe, Paul, Leonard, and Leo Lachermeier.
She is survived by sons Clifford J. (Katie) Hertzog and Bert J. (Sharon Pingree) Hertzog, all of Winsted; daughter Mary M. (Tim) Purcell of Winsted; daughter-in-law Terri Hertzog Wiederholt of Winsted; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by brothers and a sister, George "Butch" (Elmerine) Lachermeier of Winsted, Ann Boyle of Cannon Falls, and Ben (Marcella "Sally") Lachermeier of Winsted; sisters-in-law Catherine Lachermeier of Buffalo, Daisy Binder, Florentine Lachermeier, and Alice Lachermeier all of Winsted; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Magdalen Hertzog was Wednesday, March 26 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. Father Paul L. Wolf was the celebrant, and interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Bruce Gatz was the soloist, and was accompanied by Patricia Munson. John Hertzog was the Lector. Kelly Hertzog Scherping, Taylor Scherping and Darci Scherping were the gift bearers.
Friends called Tuesday, March 25 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted. A prayer service took place at 7 p.m.
Casket bearers were Dean Hertzog, Lee Hertzog, Randy Hertzog, Barry Hertzog, Neil Hertzog, and Cory Hertzog.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
