LeAnn Grace Horsch
While at home Oct. 13, 2003, LeAnn Grace Horsch peacefully passed away at the age of 65 years, 8 months and 17 days.
LeAnn was born Jan. 26, 1938, at Minneapolis, the daughter of James and Eva (Birkholz) Baird.
She was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church, Winsted, by the Rev. Ernst Feb. 6, 1938, and confirmed in her faith at that same church May 27, 1951, by the Rev. A.F. Vomhof.
LeAnn was united in marriage to Donald Horsch Nov. 16, 1957, at St. John's Church, Winsted, by the Rev. Edgar Schroeder. This union was blessed with two sons.
They made their home in Howard Lake where they became active members in the community and owned and operated "Don's Grocery" store from 1966-72.
LeAnn was also an active member of St. James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake, planting and tending to flowers around the church and office every spring and summer. As a member of the Rebecca Guild, she enjoyed quilting and was active in the local AAL branch.
She was always willing to help those in need, delivering tapes of Sunday morning worship services to shut-ins and care centers, providing transportation to those needing rides to doctor's appointments or hospital, picking up groceries or taking food and cheer to shut-ins.
She loved spending time with family and friends.
LeAnn was preceded in death by parents James and Eva Baird.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Horsch of Howard Lake, sons Steven Horsch and his children Andrew, Raymond, Steven, J.J., Becca, and Lissabeth of Detroit, Mich.; Bruce Horsch and wife Barb, along with their children Lauren and Lance of New Ulm.
LeAnn is further survived by brother Jim Baird and wife Ruth of Winsted; nieces, nephews, many special in-laws, and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation for LeAnn Horsch took place Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Howard Lake, and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
Funeral services took place Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, at 11 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake. The Rev. Michael Nirva and the Rev. Martin Schoenfeld officiated.
Music was provided by Helen Brose, Carolyn Wackler, Marge Stueven, and Dan Barth. "Nearer My God, to Thee," "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," and "How Great Thou Art" were sung as congregational hymns.
Casketbearers were LeAnn's nephews Jay Baird, Eric Bellah, Ronnie Holm, Scott Holm, Aaron Horsch, Joe Horsch, Mike Horsch, Todd Horsch, and Mitchell Olson.
Interment was at Howard Lake City Cemetery.
Arrangements were made by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Cokato and Howard Lake.
