Emma F. Killian
Emma F. Killian, age 94 of Little Falls, Minn, passed away Monday, Aug. 25, 2003 at St. Mary's Care Center in Winsted.
Emma was born Oct. 16, 1908 in Little Falls, Morrison County, Minn. to the late William and Amelia (Schaumann) Klapel. She grew up in the Fort Ripley area and attended a country school.
She was united in marriage to Floyd Killian Nov. 10, 1927 at the Lutheran parsonage in Little Falls. The couple owned a Skelly Gas Station in Fort Ripley for 33 years until moving to Little Falls in 1957.
Emma was a home health aide in Little Falls for 14 years until retiring. Emma enjoyed crafting, traveling, and donating her time to her church. She was a charter member of the Assembly of God Church in Little Falls, a member of Womens A Glow, and Women Ministries where she had served as president and secretary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd, Jan. 1, 1977, parents, five brothers, five sisters, two grandchildren, and an infant daughter, Ilo Jean Killian.
Emma is survived by sons and daughters, Bob Killian and wife Jean of Hemet, Calif.; Floyd Killain and wife Shirlee, of Des Moines, Iowa; Betty Polchow and husband Bill of Silver Lake, Shirley Barberg and husband Ed of Green Bay, Wis., and Karen Nieves of Meyerstown, Pa.
She is also survived by sisters Mille Klapel of Coon Rapids, Hattie Jensen of Spokane, Wash., and Elda McDonald of St. Cloud, 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Assembly of God Church in Little Falls with the Rev. Keith Thompson officiating. Burrial was at the Fort Ripley Cemetery in Fort Ripley, Minn.
Friends called from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls and Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.
