Ruth Jessie Kuhlmann, 76

Ruth Jessie Kuhlmann entered her eternal rest at the Sleepy Eye Municipal Hospital Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, at the age of 76 years, nine months, and eight days.

Ruth was born the daughter of Phillip and Minnie (Welk) Ullmann March 1, 1927 in Albertville, Minn.

She was baptized April 10, 1927 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Monticello. She was later confirmed into the faith Feb. 14, 1943, also at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Monticello.

Ruth grew up on a farm near Albertville and attended the Albertville Country School.

Ruth was united in marriage with Victor Kuhlmann June 1, 1950, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Monticello. The couple made their home on a farm two miles west of Lester Prairie.

Ruth and Victor were members at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, and she also attended Ladies Aid.

In 1990 Victor passed away, and in 1992 Ruth moved to Sleepy Eye to live with her daughter and son-in-law.

Ruth was a homemaker and would do a lot of needlework. When she was outside she loved to be in her garden, and she also raised chickens.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Victor, and brothers Clarence, Lawrence, Harold, and Bernard Ullmann.

Ruth is survived by her children Lois (Eugene) Sellner of Sleepy Eye, Mark (Patricia) Kuhlmann of Lester Prairie, and Naomi (Phil) Rosenau of Manawa, Wis.; grandchildren Jonathan Kuhlmann, Nathan Kuhlmann, Jenean Rosenau, Alicia Kuhlmann, Katie Rosenau, Kenan Rosenau, and Philip Rosenau; twin sister Rose Westphal of Monticello, sister-in-law Minna Ullmann of Maple Lake, and brother-in-law Lloyd Westphal of Watertown, as well as other relatives and friends.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Ruth Kuhlmann, age 76 of Sleepy Eye and formerly of Lester Prairie were Friday, Dec. 12, 2003 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie.

Visitation was Thursday evening at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie.

Officiating was the Rev. Gerald Schwanke and the Rev. Roger Raebel. The organist was Kay Gueningsman and the congregational hymns were "I Am Jesus Little Lamb," "Hallelujah! Let Praises Ring," "Lift High the Cross," and "For All the Saints."

Serving as casketbearers were Steven Westphal, Jerry Westphal, Arlen Westphal, Lowell Westphal, Oria Brinkmeier, and Reuben Kruschke.

Interment was in the St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.

Arrangements were with the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie.
