Florence Mary Mallak, 90
Florence Mary Mallak, age 90, formerly of Silver Lake and
West View Acres in Waconia died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003.
She was born Jan. 1, 1913 in Hale Township, McLeod Co.
the daughter of Vincent and Rose Pawlicki Goranowski.
Florence M. Goranowski and Frank J. Mallak were joined
in holy marriage June 20, 1933 at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Silver
Lake. God blessed their marriage with two daughters.
The Mallaks owned and operated for many years the Mallak
Elevator in Silver Lake. She enjoyed cooking and baking especially poppyseed
bread and kolaches, gardening, and her flowers.
She was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church
in Silver Lake. Florence also belonged to its CCW and Rosary Society.
Florence is survived by daughters Veronica (Jerry) Sterner
of Victoria, and Millicent "Millie" (Ray J.) Quast of Winsted;
eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; other
relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband in 1993,
her parents, twin grandchildren, sisters and brothers Sarah Mallak, Eleanore
Ardolf, Irene Eggert, Margaret Stritesky, Archie Goranowski, Raymond Goranowski,
and Cyril Goranowski.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Florence Mallak was at 10:30
a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake. Father
Robert J. Mraz was the Celebrant, and interment followed at St. Adalbert
Cemetery.
Alice Nowak was the organist for the Mass and she also
sang "Serdeczna Matko."
"Amazing Grace," "Be Not Afraid," and
"How Great Thou Art" were sung as congregational hymns.
Friends called Tuesday, Dec. 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the
Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake. A combined Rosary Society and CCW Rosary
were recited at 5 p.m., and a parish prayer service was at 7 p.m.
Giftbearers were Katie Sterner, Megan Sterner, and Sarah
Cornish.
Casketbearers were Stafford Sterner, James Sterner, Frank
Sterner, Matthew Quast, Randall Quast, and Chad Anderson.
The Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake served the family.
