Wilbert A. Meyer
Wilbert A. Meyer, 89, of Norwood Young America, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, at St. Mary's Care Center in Winsted.
He was born Oct. 21, 1914, in Dahlgren Township, Carver County, the son of Simon and Pauline (Hasse) Meyer.
He was baptized Nov. 22, 1914, by Rev. Radeke, and confirmed March 24, 1929, by the Rev. Otto Kohn, both at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Wilbert was married to Emma Klepperich May 6, 1946, at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Shakopee by Father Schiffer.
Wilbert was a World War II veteran, receiving the Purple Heart. Wilbert and Emma farmed, and he enjoyed his friends playing cards. He was a member of the Chaska VFW.
He was preceded in death by wife Emma, parents Simon and Pauline Meyer, sister Cora Kohls, and brother Edward Meyer.
He is survived by daughter and son-in-law Roberta and Roger Venske of Winsted, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Florence and Carl Klepperich of Hutchinson, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were at St. John's Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. David Winter officiating.
Interment was at National Cemetery Fort Snelling, Minnesota.
Casketbearers were Richard Venske, Bruce Venske, Dennis Venske, Douglas Venske, Kenneth Venske, Jeffrey Boehmke, and Donald Kuhnau.
The Johnson Funeral Home of Waconia served the family.
