Ella Martha Clara Miller, 91
Ella Martha Clara Miller, age 91, of rural Howard Lake died Monday, July 14, 2003 at the Howard Lake Good Samaritan Center.
She was born Jan. 7, 1912 near Silver Creek in Corinna Township, the daughter of Emil W. and Augusta Koepke Klemz.
Ella was baptized March 3, 1912 by the Rev. Carl Lueker at Zion Lutheran Church in Corinna Township. She was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith in Corinna Township Aug. 8, 1926 by the Rev. Alfred Streufert.
Her confirmation memory verse was Colossians 1:12-13 "Giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love."
Ella Klemz and Louis Miller were joined in holy marriage May 25, 1932 the Rev. Arnold Cloeter at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Silver Creek. God blessed their marriage with two daughters.
Mr. and Mrs. Miller engaged in dairy farming in Middleville Township for many years. Ella formerly worked at Northland Canning in Cokato, and at Tonka Toys in Mound.
She enjoyed raising chickens, gardening and making quilts for World Relief.
Ella was a faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Middleville Township and was a past member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Silver Creek. She also formerly belonged to the Lutheran Women's Mission League and participated in many Bible studies.
Ella is survived by daughters Norma (Rollin) Koosman of Howard Lake and Marian (Maurice) Halvorson of Edina; grandchildren David (Janel) Koosman, Julianne (Robert) Peterson, Daniel Koosman, Kristen (Michael) Radke, Dean (Christine) Koosman,
Lynn (Patrick) Lease and Michelle Koosman; 15 great grandchildren, sister Mildred Schubert of Buffalo; sisters-in-law & a Brother-in-law: Marguerite Klemz of Buffalo, Victor (Ethel) Miller of Howard Lake, Lydia Smith of Paramount, California and Bernice Miller of Cokato; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Louis G. Miller, Jr., in 1976, her parents, three sisters, and five brothers.
Funeral services for Ella Miller were Thursday, July 17 at 1:30 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Middleville Township. the Rev. Leland D. Bendix officiated, and interment followed at the church cemetery.
Ruth Goerke was the organist for the funeral service. "Awake, My Heart, with Gladness," "All that I Was, My Sin, My Guilt," "The Strife Is O'er, the Battle Done," and "I Know that My Redeemer Lives" were sung as congregational hymns.
Friends called Wednesday, July 16 at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo from 4 to 9 p.m. A prayer service was at 8 p.m.
David Koosman, Daniel Koosman, Dean Koosman, Robert Peterson, Michael Radke, and Patrick Lease served as casket bearers.
The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo served the family.
