Laura Mary Millerbernd
Laura Mary Millerbernd, of Howard Lake, and formerly of Waverly, passed away at Howard Lake Good Samaritan Center Thursday, March 27, 2003, at the age of 92 years, nine months, and 24 days.
Laura was born Sept. 3, 1910, in Big Stone City, N.D., to George and Ida (Braun) Kelzer.
She grew up in Rosen, and was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Laura attended and graduated from Bellingham High School.
Laura married Frank J. Millerbernd in 1935 in St. Paul. The couple made their home on a farm in Victor Township close to Winsted. They moved to Waverly in 1959.
She worked at several places, including Tonka Toys for 18 years, Green Giant in Winsted, and at Clara Sherman's Store in Winsted.
She liked to cook and bake, and enjoyed making meals for others. She also liked to garden.
Laura was an active member of St. Mary's Church, and was a member of the Woman's Guild and the Daughters of Isabella.
Laura is preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank, daughter Margaret Volden, brother Raymond Kelzer, and sister Betty Kelzer.
Survivors include her children Sister Mary Millerbernd OSF of Milwaukee, Clarice (Bill) Connery of Waverly, Caroline (Jay) Lutz of California, Richard (Sandy) Millerbernd of Annandale, Robert Millerbernd of Montrose, and George Millerbernd of Minneapolis; five grandchildren: Erick, Robert, Jennifer, Betsy, and Peder Volden, all of St. Paul; and son-in-law Robert Volden of St. Paul.
Funeral services for Laura Millerbernd were Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at 10 a.m., with Father Frank Wampach officiating the service.
Music was provided by Therese Borrell.
Interment was at St. Mary's Cemetery in Waverly.
Arrangements were made by Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Howard Lake and Cokato.
