Clara Josephine Pawelk
Clara Josephine Pawelk, age 81, of Winsted, died Friday afternoon, Jan. 31, 2003, at St. Mary's Care Center.
She was born May 13, 1921, in Winsted Township, McLeod County the daughter of John and Alvina Sterner Paul.
Clara was baptized at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted.
Clara J. Paul and Edwin J. Pawelk were joined in holy marriage Aug. 28, 1948, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winsted. God blessed their marriage with two sons.
Clara was later confirmed as an adult Nov. 16, 1951, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winsted by Pastor A.F. Vomhoff.
She formerly worked for 16 years at Tonka Toys in Mound.
Clara enjoyed sewing, needle point, crocheting, and her flowers.
She was a faithful member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winsted.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents John and Alvina Paul, and by two brothers: Eugene and Harold Paul.
She is survived by her loving husband Edwin J. Pawelk; twin sons Douglas P. (Mary) Pawelk of Winsted, and David P. (Marilyn) Pawelk of Lester Prairie; three grandchildren: Cassandra Pawelk, Lynette Pawelk, and Paul Pawelk; and two step-grandchildren: Jimmy (Christen) McKnight and Tina (Chad) Duenow.
She is further survived by five step-great-grandchildren: Donovan, Dominic, Dakota, Jessica, and Jonathan; brother Gilbert (Joan) Paul of Lester Prairie; sister Dorothy (David) Micka of Plymouth; sisters-in-law Alice Paul of Silver Lake, Lillian Paul of Fridley, Arlys Zellman of New Germany and Marcella Pawelk of Winsted; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services for Clara Pawelk were Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winsted. Pastor Gerald L. Boldt officiated, and interment followed at Winsted Public Cemetery.
Marlene Mohwinkel was the organist for the funeral service and Rolf Mohwinkel and sang "How Great Thou Art," "Nearer, My God to Thee," and "I'm But a Stranger Here."
Friends called at the Chilson Funeral Chapel in Winsted Monday, Feb. 3, from 3 to 7 p.m. A prayer service was at 6:30 p.m.
Casket bearers were Bob and Terry Kutz, Larry Biske, Doug and Darril Telecky, and Jim McKnight.
The Chilson Funeral Chapel in Winsted served the family.
