Mary Lucy Quast
Mary Lucy Quast, age 94, of Hutchinson, and formerly of Winsted, died Friday evening, Jan. 3, 2003, at her residence.
She was born April 10, 1908, in Winsted, the daughter of John and Anna Horstman Heigl.
Mary L. Heigl and Felix A. Quast were joined in holy marriage May 27, 1935, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted.
Mary and Felix engaged in farming for many years on the original Quast homestead, five-and-a-half miles southwest of Winsted.
Mary was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, and also belonged to the St. Anne's Society.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Felix A. Quast May 7, 1982, an infant son Elmer Quast in 1939, and by her parents.
She is survived by her children Marlys (Gil) Otto and Bernadine (Kevin) Paggen, all of St. Cloud, and Felix (Janice) Quast, Jr., of Winsted; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sister Lena Shovelain of Rochester; and many other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian burial for Mary L. Quast was Monday, Jan. 6, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. Father Paul L. Wolf was the celebrant.
Private interment was at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Lavon Kielkucki was the organist for the Mass.
Friends called at the Church on Monday, Jan. 6, one hour prior to the Mass.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
