Ruth Frieda Emma Rabe
Funeral services for Ruth Frieda Emma Rabe, 78, of Glencoe were held Wednesday, April 23, from the St. John's Lutheran Church of Helen Township. Officiating was the Rev. Dennis Reichow.
Mrs. Rabe died on Sunday, April 20, 2003, at the Gaylord Lakeview Home.
The organist was Catherine Templin. The congregational hymns were "How Great Thou Art," "Amazing Grace" and "For Me To Live Is Jesus."
Pallbearers were Tim Grenke, Terry Grenke, Travis Grenke, Matt Rabe, Jason Rabe, Paul Rabe, Bill Rabe, Josh Rabe and Cassandra Rabe. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Ruth Frieda Emma Schultz was born to William and Martha (Dose) Schultz on Jan. 16, 1925, in Glencoe. She was baptized Feb. 15, 1925, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe by the Rev. E. Kolbe. She was later confirmed at First Lutheran on May 14, 1939, by the Rev. A. Streufert. She was a member of the 1943 graduating class of Stevens Seminary in Glencoe.
On July 11, 1946, she was united in marriage with Richard F. Rabe at First Lutheran by the Rev. A. Streufert. The couple made their home in Green Isle Township where they farmed.
Mr. Rabe died in December of 1982. Mrs. Rabe remained on the farm for about a year until moving to a home in Glencoe. She had worked for Hands in Hutchinson and later Telex in Glencoe. Since January of this year, Mrs. Rabe has been a resident of the Gaylord Lakeview Home.
She enjoyed sewing and gardening in her younger years. Ruth especially enjoyed all of her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children Lanette Grenke of Lester Prairie, Thomas (Bonnie) Rabe of Winthrop, Dennis (Lonnie) Rabe of Green Isle; 10 grandchildren, Tim (Tonya) Grenke, Terry Grenke, Travis Grenke, Matt Rabe, Jason Rabe and fiancee, Jessica Buboltz, Paul Rabe, Bill Rabe, Josh Rabe, Vanessa Rabe and Cassandra Rabe; one great-grandchild, Brooke Rabe; brothers and sisters, Doloris Routs of Howard Lake, Cary (Walt) Plamann of Hutchinson, Joyce (Les) Rud of Northfield, Willard (Donna) Schultz of Litchfield, Donald Schultz of Golden Valley, Marcene (Cliff) Briest of Spencer, Iowa; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Len and Harriet Rabe of Minneapolis; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; and three brothers, Vernon, Marvin and Harley Schultz.
The Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel of Glencoe handled arrangements.
