Arnold J. "Arnie" Roepke
Arnold J. "Arnie" Roepke, 50, of New Germany, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, at Kewaunee, Wis., while on a fishing trip.
He was born Feb. 19, 1953, at Watertown, the son of Walter and Laura (Burdorf) Roepke. Arnie was baptized March 8, 1953, at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany by the Rev. Fred Pfotenhauer, and confirmed April 23, 1967, at St. Mark Lutheran Church by the Rev. Henry Weseloh.
Arnie was a graduate of Waconia High School. Arnie was very active at St. Mark Lutheran Church, being head trustee at the church. Arnie enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He hog roasted for many people in the area. Arnie enjoyed his family and lived life to the fullest.
Arnie married Lynn Stark at St. Mark Lutheran Church Nov. 8, 1975, by the Rev. Walter Schultz.
Arnie was preceded in death by parents Walter and Laura Roepke.
Arnie is survived by wife Lynn, daughter Beth Roepke of New Germany, sister and brother-in-law Carolyn and David Effertz of New Germany, brother Harvey Roepke of Granite Falls, nephews Jonathan and Daniel Effertz.
He is also survived by cousins Gerald and Karen Roepke of New Germany, Eric Roepke and son Braedy, Paul and Julie Roepke and children Rachel and Matthew, Mary and Doug Stuedeman and sons Alex and Cole, Nathan Roepke, father-in-law and mother-in-law Howard and Charlene Stark of Long Lake.
Arnie is further survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Roger and Gail Koehnen of Minnetonka, Denise Stark of Long Lake, Michael and Amy Stark of Long Lake, Bruce and Sandy Stark of Long Lake, Steven and Kristan Stark of Milwaukie, Ore., nieces and nephews Heidi and fiancee Ryan, Paige, Tommy, Katy, Lauren, Sarah, Alex, Samantha, and Sonja, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Allen Holthus officiating.
Interment was at St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery in New Germany.
Casketbearers were Bob Menth, Mike Hensel, Gordy Miller, Lyle Hartwig, Don Wellnitz, and Stevie Bachleitner.
Honorary casketbearers were Jonathan and Daniel Effertz, Eric, Paul, and Nathan Roepke, Michael, Bruce, and Steven Stark, and Roger Koehnen.
Arrangements were made by the Johnson Funeral Home of Waconia.
