Dale Ruschmeier, 54
Dale Ruschmeier entered his eternal rest at the Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care Sunday, July 6, 2003 at the age of 54 years, 10 months and 11 days.
Dale Thomas Ruschmeier was born the son of Hubert and Esther (Heckmann) Ruschmeier on August 25, 1948 at the Glencoe Hospital.
He was baptized as an infant and later was confirmed in his faith at St. John's Lutheran Church in Helen Township. He graduated from Glencoe High School.
Dale entered active military service in the United States Army Feb. 22, 1969 and was honorably discharged Nov. 19, 1970.
He served on board the USS Coral Sea in San Francisco, CA. Dale achieved the rank of ABF3 and was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea).
Dale was united in marriage to Sandra Dahlke August 15, 1970 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Helen Township. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Lori, Daniel, and Matthew. Dale and Sandy were blessed with over 32 years of marriage.
Dale and Sandy made their home in Glencoe where Dale worked at Alamo/SMC in Lester Prairie since 1966. Dale also worked part time at Lemke Welding for eight years, the Glencoe VFW Post, and also three years at H.G. Swilley's. Dale was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church and had many positions in the church, such as vice president, financial secretary, and he ushered for 25 years.
Dale was also a member of the Glencoe VFW of which he was an active member of the VFW Drill Team. Dale liked to play sheephead, throw horseshoes, fish, and hunt.
He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, at their lake home on Long Lake.
Dale is preceded in death by his father Hubert; daughter Lori, and step-father Earl Beringer.
He is survived by his wife Sandy Ruschmeier of Glencoe; sons Daniel Ruschmeier (Cathy) of New Germany and Matthew Ruschmeier (special friend Kim Trocke) of Glencoe; two grandchildren, mother Esther Ruschmeier of Glencoe.
Dale is further survived by brothers Glen Ruschmeier (Arlys) of Biscay, and David Ruschmeier (Jeannine) of Plato; sister Kathy Schuetz (Robert) of Glencoe, father and mother-in-law Bud and Lucy Dahlke of Brownton, brother and sister-in-laws, Ron and Jeanie Von Berge of Brownton and Dave and Roxanne Wendlandt of Brownton; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Tuesday evening July 8, 2003 at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Dale T. Ruschmeier, age 54, of Glencoe were Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Helen Township.
Officiating was the Rev. Dennis Reichow. The organist was Catherine Templin, and the congregational hymns were "Abide With Me" and "I'm But A Stranger Here." The choir sang "It Is Well With My Soul."
The casket bearers were Peter Ruschmeier, Mike Schuetz, Jeff Wendlandt, Josh Wendlandt, Paul Lemke, and Chris Crochane.
The honorary bearers were Ross Schochenmaier, Jesse Richards, Chris Hansch, and Terry Slogar.
Interment was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Helen Township.
Arrangements were with the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe.
