Michael Vonne’ Sadler
Michael Vonne’ Sadler, age 33, of Waverly, died in an automobile
accident Wednesday morning, Jan. 1, 2003.
Michael was born Sept. 5, 1969, in Champaign, Ill., the
son of Audrey and Rick Johnson, of Concord, Calif.
Michael grew up in Lawrenceville, Ga., where he was a Boy
Scout for several years and played soccer for seven seasons.
The family moved to Minnesota in his senior year and he
graduated from Buffalo High School in 1988.
Michael graduated from St. Cloud Technical School with
a welding degree in 1989. He entered the US Navy in 1990.
He and his wife, Jodi, were stationed in San Diego, where
both their daughter Nicole Ann was born in 1990 and he received his electronics
training as a sonar technician.
They then were stationed in Groton, Conn., where their
son Thomas Vonne’ was born, and Michael was assigned to the USS Whale, a
nuclear submarine.
After receiving an honorable discharge from the Navy, the
family moved to the San Francisco area and eventually back to Wright County.
Michael was a devoted father. It was difficult for him
to be very far away from his children. He enjoyed being involved with Nicole
and Thomas’ school activities, and going on family trips with them.
Michael loved people and easily made friends wherever he
lived. He was an avid fisherman and made several fly-in fishing trips to
Canada with his dad and friends.
Michael had just completed building a fish house with his
friend, Steve Nowak. He also enjoyed camping and dreaming of being a race
car driver.
He enjoyed music, listening to other people, and sharing
his life stories with others. Michael had just made a two-week driving trip
to California, where he spent Christmas with his mom, dad, sister, brother-in-law,
nephew, and niece.
He returned to Minnesota to spend New Years Eve with his
fiance, Stacie Mickles and her son David Longhenry.
Michael lived a fun, interesting life and was always eager
to learn more about everything. He was always ready to lend a helping hand
when needed.
Michael is survived by his children, Nicole A. Sadler,
age 12, Thomas V. Sadler, age 9, and their mother, Jodi Lengyel, all of
Maple Lake; his mother and father, Rick and Audrey Johnson of Concord, Calif.,
and his sister, Alicia Oceguera along with her family of Concord, Calif.
Additional survivors include David Sadler, and grandmothers
Alice Anderson of Duluth, Mary Kemp of Clyde, N.C., and Donna Johnson of
Park Rapids, as well as many other relatives and friends throughout the
United States.
Funeral Services for Michael were Sunday, Jan. 5, at 1
p.m. at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. Pastor Christian Bode officiated
at the services.
For anyone wishing to make a monetary contribution for
the children, an account has been set up for Nicole and Thomas Sadler at
Security State Bank in Maple Lake.
The family will forever cherish the time that they were
allowed to spend with Michael and will miss him greatly.
