Eleanore I. Sexton
Eleanore I. Sexton, age 85, of Clearwater, died Tuesday,
May 27, 2003.
Eleanore was born June 23, 1917, in Howard Lake to Frederick
and Mable (Jestus) Westphal. She married Gervase E. “Jerry” Sexton
Feb. 1, 1935 in Waverly.
From Howard Lake, they made their home in Excelsior where
they raised their five children.
They moved to St. Cloud to become co-owners of Rip’s Bar
in St. Cloud in 1962.
They purchased Mel’s Corral in 1968 and renamed it the
Corral Bar, which they operated for 10 years. The Corral Bar became known
for its great food and friendly family atmosphere. Eleanore loved getting
to know her customers. They retired in 1978.
Eleanore was a devoted mother and will always be remembered
for her love of flowers and her holiday decorations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in
August of 1980, infant son Alan, and brother Donald.
Survivors include her children, Barbara and Wilfred of
Clearwater, Thomas and his wife Jean of Minnetonka, Paula Welch and her
husband Dennis of St. Cloud, and Mark of Clearwater; five grandchildren:
Denise (Welch) Patton, Peter, Daniel, Michelle, Amanda Sexton; two brothers:
Wilfred and his wife Mary of Baxter, and Roger and his wife Lois of Albion
Center.
Friends called from Thursday, May 29, from 4 to 8 p.m.
and one hour prior to the funeral service at the Daniel Funeral Home, St.
Cloud.
Funeral services were Friday, May 30, 2003, at 11 a.m.
at the Daniel Funeral Home Chapel in St. Cloud. Chaplain Joel Nathe and
Rev. Gerald Keefe officiated.
Burial was in Assumption Cemetery in St. Cloud.
Arrangements were by the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud.
