Lorin Louis Streich obituary, 7/9/2003


Lorin Louis Streich, age 75, of Glencoe, entered his eternal
rest Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at the Sibley Medical Center in Arlington
at the age of 75 years, 11 months, and 20 days.
Lorin was born the son of Louis and Stella (Jensen) Streich
July 19, 1927 in Glencoe. He was baptized July 24, 1927 at the First Evangelical
Lutheran Church in Glencoe by the Reverend E. Kolbe. Lorin was later confirmed
at the same church April 6, 1941 by the Reverend A. Streufert.
Lorin attended country school and graduated from the Glencoe
High School in 1945.
In October of 1953 Lorin entered the United States Army.
He served at Ft. George C. Meade in Maryland until his honorable discharge
Oct. 12, 1955. During his service Lorin had earned the National Defense
Service Medal.
Lorin was united in marriage with Lois E. Adams at the
St. Peter Lutheran Church parsonage in rural Lester Prairie Dec. 6, 1958
by the Reverend Erb. The couple made their home on a farm near New Auburn
until 1977 when they moved to Glencoe.
Lorin was a lifelong member of the First Evangelical Lutheran
Church where he was very active and had served on the church council. He
was a past member of the New Auburn Creamery Board and currently serving
on the board of the McLeod County Emergency Food Shelf.
Lorin enjoyed spending time and fishing at their lake cabin
on Hand Lake, located between Pine River and Longville. He loved watching
wildlife and was a big sports fan. Lorin, along with wife Lois, especially
enjoyed their trip to Europe.
Lorin is preceded in death by his parents, wife Lois, sister-in-law
Emma Adams, brothers-in-law Gehardt Splittstoesser, Willard Adams, and Vernon
Adams.
Lorin is survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law
Maynard Adams of Isle, Howard Adams of St. Paul, Robert and Lois Adams of
Glencoe, Marian Splittstoesser of Greenfield, Gladys and Glennard Parpart
of St. Paul, Kenneth and Virginia Adams of Glencoe, Floyd Adams of Little
Canada, Carol Adams of Glencoe, and Carol Adams of Chaska. Lorin is also
survived by nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Visitation for Lorin was Sunday evening at the Johnson-McBride
Funeral Chapel in Glencoe.
Funeral services celebrating Lorin’s life were Monday,
July 14, 2003, at 11 a.m. at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe.
Officiating was the Reverend Randall Tonn.
The organist was Mary Huebert. The soloist was Lawrence
Biermann who sang “The Lord’s Prayer.” The congregational hymns
were “I Know That My Redeemer Lives,” “Just As I Am”
and “How Great Thou Art.”
Interment was in the First Lutheran Cemetery.
Serving as casket bearers were Kevin Post, David Uecker,
Lonny Lsenberg, Randy Eggersgluess, Jim Fogarty, and Ricky Adams.
The Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe served the
family.
