Florence Mary “Flossy” Westrup
Florence Mary “Flossy” Westrup, age 77, of Winsted
died Friday, June 27, 2003 at St. Mary’s Care Center.
She was born April 16, 1926 in Winsted the daughter of
Lindon and Helena Roufs Scheid.
Florence graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1944
and lived her entire life in Winsted.
Florence M. Scheid and Medard “Westy” Westrup
were joined in holy marriage at Holy Trinity Catholic Church July 22, 1947
in Winsted. God blessed their marriage with two children.
Flossy was formerly employed at Citizens State Bank of
Winsted, was an executive secretary at Sterner Lighting, and retired from
the Winsted Telephone Company.
She was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church
in Winsted. Flossy also belonged to The Council of Catholic Women and was
a volunteer at St. Mary’s Care Center.
She is preceded in death by her husband Medard ‘Westy”
Westrup January 1, 2002, and by her parents: Lindon and Helena Scheid.
Flossy is survived by a son Ron (Anita) Westrup of Cold
Spring, a daughter Connie (Marv) Showalter of Bennington, Neb., grandchildren
Scott (Kim) Westrup of Rockford, Molly (Bill) Schumal of Cottage Grove,
Christopher (Sarah) Showalter and Matthew Showalter, all of Omaha, Neb.;
four great-grandchilren: Megan and Brianna Westrup, and Jacob and Charles
Schumal.
She is further survived by brothers and sisters: Rodger
(Marissa) Scheid of Maple Grove, Stanley Scheid of Stillwater, Eileen (George)
Knott and Cecile (Vince) Laxen, all of Winsted; a brother-in-law Jerome
Westrup of Winsted, and a sister-in-law Adeline Snegosky of Litchfield,
many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Florence “Flossy”
Westrup was Tuesday, July l, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic
Church in Winsted. Father Paul L. Wolff was the celebrant, and interment
followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Gift bearers were grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mass servers were Kayla Thonvold, Karissa Remer and Joshua
Remer.
Friends called Monday, June 30 at the Chilson Funeral Home
in Winsted from 5 to 8 p.m. A prayer service was at 7:30 p.m.
Casket bearers were Scott Westrup, Bill Schumal, Christopher
and Matthew Showalter, Chuck Remer, and Lyle Kritzeck.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
