Phyllis Ann Zeller
Phyllis Ann Zeller, age 67, of Waverly, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 28, in Mesa, Ariz., with her family by her side.
Phyllis, the daughter of Emil an Inex (Malkson) Hoffman, was born March 8, 1935, in Champlin. Phyllis was married to Robert Zeller.
She was a complex person who had the ability to teach those around her in the way she carried herself in life. She was an accomplished writer and poet and, therefore, left many footprints for her family to follow.
While she worked for 47 years as a wife and mother, she also worked for 15 years in the other working world, the last of which was as a purchasing agent for Prudential.
After Bob retired, they built a retirement home in Bob's hometown of Waverly, and they spent their winters in Apache Junction in Arizona.
Phyllis was Waverly Lake Association President. She especially loved the boat parades. She also ran for public office.
She was deeply religious, finding peace and happiness in the wonder and beauty of faith and salvation with the help of Sister Irene and Sister Freida.
She served as president of the CCW, an organization for Catholic Women.
Phyllis loved to play cards and created significant friendship bonds with a group of friends that met for the last 46 years. Entertaining was a big part of her life wherever they lived.
Phyllis shared her warmth, compassion, faith, and sense of humor with others, and was always there for her family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be greatly missed until we see her in heaven.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her sisters Margaret DeJarnlais, Ruth Brown, and Catherine Johnson; and brothers Gene Hoffman and Emil Hoffman, Jr.
She is survived by her loving husband Bob; daughters Ann Zeller, Barb and Dave Kenison; sons Steve and Deb, Paul and Barb; grandchildren Jola, Steven, Peter, John, and Thomas; sister Betty and George Little; brothers Bill and Jeanne Hoffman and Art and Rita Hoffman.
A Mass of Christian burial took place Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waverly. Visitation was Friday evening from 4 to 8 p.m. and again one hour prior to services at the church.
