Kathleen Blanche Adams, 82
Kathleen Blanche (Lockwood) Adams, age 82, of Las Cruces, N.M., and formerly of Waverly, died Saturday, March 6, 2004 in Las Cruces, after being in failing health for some time.
Kathleen was born June 21, 1921 in Spooner, Wis., the daughter of Stephen A. and Hazel (Pittenger) Lockwood. Her mother passed away when she was 1 1/2 years old, and Kathleen lived temporarily with Aunt Carrie Louden in Hastings, and then, with her father, Stephen A. and stepmother, Gertie Lockwood in Aberdeen, S. D., and in rural Waverly, until she moved to California in 1939 and married Donald Henderson. Two sons were born to this union, Donald and Dale.
Kathleen married her second husband, Loren D. Adams, in 1955. She and Loren were employed by the United States government; being involved in special missions from the White Sands New Mexico Missile Base.
Kathleen loved gardening and yard work, was active in volunteer work in later years, and was always helping someone in need, as well as contributing to many charities.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Hazel; her father, Stephen A.; stepmother, Gertrude Lockwood; husband Loren, son Donald Henderson Jr., and brothers: Kenneth, Stephen Duane and Ronald Lockwood.
Kathleen is survived by her son Dale G. Henderson of Las Cruces, N.M., sisters: Jeannie Bowers of Howard Lake, and Carole (Joe) Miller of Long Lake, and sisters-in-law, Joyce and Doris Lockwood.
She is further survived by nieces, Hedy, Bonita and Donna in California; and Wendy, Barbara and Julie in Arizona and Minnesota; nephews, Mike Lockwood, Les (Lori) Libor, and Jim (Natasha) Hayes; and cousins, Donald Louden and Marianne (Richard) Roarick; as well as other relatives and friends.
A memorial service and interment will be in New Mexico at a later date.
